I don’t know about you, but I think finding holy grail skincare products is like finding the perfect pair of jeans. At first things might seem good, and you think it’s helping the way you look and feel, but after a few uses or some time passes things start to fall apart. In the scenario of your jeans they start fading, stretch out, or just start feeling uncomfortable; for your skincare products they make you oily or too dry, you start to breakout, or you develop a sensitivity/irritation… But when you find a perfect match for you, stock up – because you know it’s reliable and won’t let you down.
I feel like I am always searching for skincare products that don’t irritate my sensitive skin. Of all the skincare necessities, the one product I will not skimp on is my face wash. Regardless of what goes in to your skincare routine, it is most important to start and end your day with a clean face (of course I hope you follow with a moisturizer, but I’ll save that rant for later).
Most face washes have ingredients that dry my skin out, are too harsh for my rosacea (see my previous post here), or actually lead to breakouts. My dermatologist has always recommended that I use CeraVe, because it’s gentle and tested for sensitive skin, and I agree, their products have never let me down or irritated my skin. However, I have always had an issue with congestion in my skin, which led to adding more steps (and products) to my skincare routine.
For this reason I was so ready to find a cleanser that could do it all – it needed to cleanse (obviously), not worsen my redness, keep breakouts a thing of the past, and not be too drying, irritating, or fragranced. Dermalogica’s Special Cleansing Gel does all of the above. I found this gem in one of my FabFitFun boxes, and I am forever grateful. Although clearly more expensive than my previous CeraVe, this face wash lives up to the positive claims, and it’s worth every cent.
I use this cleanser every morning as the first step in my skincare routine, and I use it in the evening after removing my makeup. It leaves my skin feeling oil free (without being too dry), and ready for a moisturizer. It doesn’t irritate my skin, cause my rosacea to flare up, or break me out. The best part of all is that it’s helped out so much with congestion around my nose and chin! I no longer felt the need to use acne/skin clearing products, because this guy took care of it all.
While I am always on the hunt for skincare products, one thing I’m truly content and happy with is my face wash. Now if only I could find a serum and moisturizer that I love as much as this. Any suggestions?
Until next time,
Paige
