Pittsburgh is an amazing place to live, but it’s always fun to go on trips, see what other cities have to offer, and just relax. I needed the latter a little more than normal lately, so I was so excited that Adam and I had a trip to Nashville planned this summer.
I wasn’t disappointed by anything on this trip, the music was great everywhere we went, and the food was even better. I was going to write out my whole review of our Nashville trip in one post, but decided I could be a “foodie” and dedicate this post just to our delicious eats while we were there! Keep on reading for some drool worthy food, and places I would definitely recommend if you were to take a trip to Nashville…
Breakfast
Milk and Honey
This was by far my favorite breakfast while we were in Nashville. Everything that we all got was so good, I honestly wish we went back on our last day instead of being lazy at the pool. I ended up ordering chicken and waffles, surprise surprise, and it was AMAZING. By far my favorite part of my dish was the honey hot sauce… put it on everything. Adam got a chicken biscuit sandwich, and it was the best biscuit I have ever had (and I only had a small bite). Our fried chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection, and the service was friendly and quick. You might have to wait in a little line for this food, but it is well worth it!!

Biscuit Love
I was probably most excited to go to Biscuit Love prior to our trip, but we had to get there right when they opened because lines form around the block for this restaurant. Its a really quick option though, we didn’t wait long at all, and the food was really good. I ordered sausage gravy and biscuits, and although it wasn’t my favorite (their chicken biscuit and biscuit desserts looked delicious), it was still one for the books. (Side note, I was too hungry to wait to take a photo…)
My favorite thing we got at Biscuit Love had to be the Bonuts (biscuit donuts). They were light and airy puffs of dough with lemon marscapone and blueberry compote… UGH. SO. STINKING. GOOD. I would wait in line for five orders of these. If you can, go get them, now.

Lunch/Dinner
The Stillery
Our first night in Nashville we were so tired from traveling and walking around like tourists all day, we decided to just go somewhere close to our hotel to eat. Luckily we stumbled upon The Stillery, where they have delicious signature drinks, and even better food. After a long day a Hot Chicken Pizza was just what I needed (it made for amazing leftovers). Go here for cool comfort food, a great atmosphere, and a place to try a few new fun drinks.

The Pharmacy
This was one of my favorites of our trip… I feel like I might say that often, but its true! A good burger is hard to beat, and The Pharmacy definitely delivered. We all got to build our own burger, which was so fresh and delicious, I would have had two, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was so cool. It’s considered a ‘Burger Parlor & Beer Garden’, so it makes sense to have good burgers and beer, but we all sat at rustic picnic tables, and looked at the view of the greenery of the outdoor seating area. They’ve just created such a relaxing and chill atmosphere, it would be hard to not want to hang out there for a drink or two. I definitely recommend.

Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint
We stumbled upon this BBQ restaurant when spending the day in downtown Nashville, and it was seriously the best. Adam and I ordered ribs, wings, and pulled pork to split, and I’m so glad we got to try a little bit of everything. The wings were definitely my favorite, and looking around to the locals they must have known they were the best too, because every table had huge orders! I would definitely recommend the wings, extra sauce on the side, and hush puppies (OH. M. G).

Hattie B’s Hot Chicken
This tourist favorite was recommended to us by every driver we had, and every person we stumbled upon, so we definitely had to try it out! I love hot food, but I was not totally prepared for Hattie B’s Hot Chicken. It’s so good, but not in a, chicken covered in sauce, kind of way. The spice to this chicken is so tasty and flavorful, but definitely packs a punch of heat. When we visited Nashville there was a heat wave, so I honestly wasn’t able to eat much of this outside… but it was seriously even better as leftovers. I ordered the “hot” chicken, and I can’t even imagine how spicy their “Damn Hot”, or “Shut the Cluck Up” flavors would be… they’re not messing around!

Of course while on our four day trip we ate at other places, but this was my highlight real… and I would seriously recommend any of the above restaurants. I’ve never really taken a trip just to eat my way through a city, but this was amazing, and totally worth it! Plus Nashville has so many fun things to do, including the music scene downtown, if I were you I’d plan to go soon!
If you’ve ever taken a getaway trip focused on trying all the delicious eat’s and treats around, where did you go? I’d love to know because this was such a fun thing to do, I’m sure Adam and I will be looking for our next short getaway!
Until next time,
Paige
