So while I have tried the UV light from home gel products, which works really nicely, and I have tried the gel polishes that promise “up to 2 weeks” without chipping, I am never completely happy with the outcomes. The polish chips within one week, or the products are just too expensive to try multiple colors.
I have found the fix. Essence makes a top coat that is like a super strength top coat that makes your manicure look amazing, it’s Essence Gel-look Plumping Top Coat. I wanted to try this multiple times to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, but obviously that took a while because it’s so amazing my nails wouldn’t chip for over a week at a time!!!!!
Straight to the polish… I would apply one coat of my regular Sally Hansen polish, let that dry, and go straight to this top coat. It dries pretty quickly, leaves my nails super shiny and sleek, and the best part is that they do not chip for at least one week while giving the appearance of a thicker manicure.
I’ve tried the Sally Hansen Gel Shine 3D Top Coat that has been getting a lot of attention, but for the extra money I really didn’t think it was better or even as good. I bought this baby at Ulta, and I have been telling everyone to go and try it to save your nails. Luckily they all love it too!
I just wanted to write a quick post to let you know about this, because summer is right around the corner and bright fun nails are the best accessory for any day!
I’ve been absent for a little bit, but that’s just because I’m finalizing everything to graduate and finally become a pharmacist!!!! I’ll try to make the posts a little more frequent in the mean time, and I’d love to hear what you guys have tried to keep your manicures lasting longer than usual. Keep in touch, and thanks for reading!!!
I guess I should have posted this yesterday (Mani Monday), but I can’t help being a step behind sometimes. Anyways let’s make this short and sweet. I have a love of painting my nails, or having them done, that I cannot explain any other way than… it feels like getting dressed in the morning. My nails look better with color, and I just feel kind of naked and bare when they’re not done. So… needless to say I have an extensive color collection, and often times I get new polishes just to try out brands and see what’s what.
For a stocking stuffer I received Sinful Colors ‘Let’s Talk’ polish, which appears to be a very deep and shiny purple. I think these colors are very useful, and they’re extremely nice to change up your normal routine of reds, neutrals, and pinks (blah). So on my girls’ day Sunday, I decided to give this color a whirl.
When I look at my nails it’s like… BAM. PURPLE. This purple is kind of neon, very metallic and in your face; and it’s just dark enough – which I love. I was really surprised because this brand of polish is relatively cheap, and when I’ve tried colors in the past they had minimal color payoff and I had to cake up my nails just to get one full coat.
This polish took two swipes, and I have a perfect manicure. Needless to say I still used an Essie base coat and an Orly quick dry top coat… but those are pretty much my staples to everyday nail care. Long story short, this color is amazing. I got so many compliments on my nails at the pharmacy when talking to people, and after two full days I have yet to experience any chipping or discoloration (I probably just jinxed myself).
If you want to spend little money, and want an awesome color that will definitely switch up the normal nail routine, try out some of these Sinful Colors. I’m definitely going to go look (at Target) for more with this metallic hue to see if they’re just as good! 🙂
I should start by saying… I love having my nails painted. When they aren’t covered in some sort of polish or top coat, I feel naked. When they’re chipped and gross looking, I feel dirty. It’s just become part of … Continue reading →
