If you’ve been following along on my skincare section of What Paige, you’d know that I’m a big fan of the skincare brand Dermalogica. It would then be no surprise that my post about skincare today highlights another one of their products, the Precleanse Balm.
I’ve never tried a cleansing oil before, and didn’t think it seemed that necessary for me to incorporate in to my skincare routine. Normally I remove my makeup each night (if I remember) with a sensitive skin facial wipe, and it does a good job of not irritating my skin and it gets the job done for the most part with taking all of my makeup off. However, this winter has been a tough one for my skin, and the wipes started to cause irritation when my rosacea was in a flare.
Because of this, I jumped at the opportunity to purchase the Dermalogica Precleanse Balm when I saw that it was sold in a travel size, included in the limited edition Healthy Skin Besties set. It seemed like a good product to try since my skin was just not responding well to my current routine, and I wasn’t being locked down to having to buy a huge bottle.
If you can get your hands on the Healthy Skin Besties set, I would highly recommend it. You will receive a travel size version of the Precleanse Balm and my favorite Special Cleansing Gel. Along with these two products you get a mini mitt for the Precleanse Balm, a $5 voucher for a FaceFit service at Ulta, and it comes in an adorable blueish-green bag, perfect for toting around skincare products while traveling.
So what’s so great about the Dermalogica Precleanse Balm?
First off, its really easy to use. I start by applying a small amount of the balm to the mini mitt provided, and I massage that on to my dry skin in circular motions to start breaking up my makeup. It works pretty quickly, and the cleansing mitt really makes my skin feel smooth and exfoliated by the time I’m done, although it works even if you’re just using your hands. I add a little water to my face, keep massaging, and then I rinse all of the balm off. I always follow up with the Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, because it’s the best… if you want to see my full review, check out my previous post here!
Another great thing about the Precleanse Balm is that it’s a multi-tasking product. Yes, it’s removing my makeup, that’s what I’ve purchased it for, but it’s also helping to get off excess oils and leave my skin smooth and calm. This product was developed to remove oil, sunscreen, makeup, and harsh pollutants without clogging pores or irritating the skin – I can totally attest that it meets these claims!
I think one of my favorite parts about this product is how it makes my skin feel after I wipe/rinse it all off. My skin always feels so hydrated, without being greasy. And the scent is very mild, it almost reminds me of a spa day, making the task of removing makeup slightly more appealing.
Since I’ve started incorporating the Dermalogica Precleanse Balm in to my routine, my rosacea has calmed down a bit, I notice less oil build up around my T-Zone, and I wake up with really refreshed skin. I don’t want to attribute everything to this balm, because I do have a nice skincare regimen, but I’ve really enjoyed using it, and I’ll definitely be purchasing a full size bottle. I think the benefits it provides seriously out-weigh the downfall of having to add an extra step in to my nighttime routine.
All in all, I have no complaints, and would totally recommend this!
Until next time,
Paige
*I purchased my skincare set from Ulta, although it’s not available on their website anymore. If you’d like to purchase a full size bottle of the Precleanse Balm, it retails for $45 (larger mitt included). (This is not an affiliate link)
