Me and crafting have a love-hate relationship. I love making things, having a creative outlet, and having a personalized way of giving gifts. I hate how time consuming crafting can be, depending on your project, and the trial and error until you figure out exactly how you want something to be done.
This year for Valentine’s Day I chose to love crafting. I wanted to have something special or cute to give my co-workers and best friends. But luckily for me, I thought of a few fun ideas that would make everyone happy, satisfy a sweet tooth or two, and even be easy on me.
If you don’t have a Cricut or paper cutting machine, this first project won’t exactly be for you, but you can take the idea and run with it for making your own Valentine’s Day tags. I decided to search for a ‘heart tag’ on Cricut Design Space, and I was able to easily create this cute and sparkly tag.
The program will cut your project in two parts, so you can choose whatever colors you want, and resize to your liking. I made my tags pretty small and to keep them held together I put a thin layer of Modge Podge down.
On the back of my tags I’ll write whatever Valentine’s message I want. This year I thought it would be cute to incorporate coffee as a pun for my co-workers, since we can’t survive a day in the pharmacy without a cup of joe. I printed my phrases out on printer paper (since my handwriting is not the best), and used the same adhesive to stick them to the back of my heart tags.
I attached these guys to a K-Cup and viola! An adorable and personalized Valentine’s Day treat.
For my friends who can’t have coffee right now, I decided to wrap up a few delicious chocolates in mesh favor bags and attach an even easier gift tag.
You can either cut out whatever shape tag you want, or purchase already cut circles to attach. I found simple Valentine’s Day stickers and put them on one side, with a little ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ on the other. No special pun needed, the chocolate is too good to outshine.
Some of my other favorite Valentine’s Day card idea’s for your special someone include:
- You’ve stolen a pizza my heart
- Let’s Avo-Cuddle
- I donut know what I’d do without you
Are we sensing a trend with the food puns? I may be hungry…
For my special someone, I’m sure I’ll craft a classic style Valentine, free of funny food puns. Hopefully I can design a cute card to create with my Cricut, probably something red, with hearts or lace. I know, I know, so original. If you end up making a DIY Valentine this year, what will yours look like?
Anyways, I hope these fun and easy ideas help inspire you to create your own Valentine’s Day cards or treats for friends, family, or co-workers. It’s always nice to be nice, this small favor might just make someone smile!
Until next time,
Paige
