One thing I really love to talk about is skincare. I think I have such an interest in this area just because I have rosacea, and I’m always looking for something to calm my skin, improve the texture, and prevent further damage. When you think about it, you only have one set of skin, so it’s important to take care of it, which is why I am always on the hunt to try new things to hopefully become staples in my skincare routine.
Today I wanted to talk about Juice Beauty. I had previously never tried this brand, but I was sold on a couple of products on a trip to Ulta a few months ago. I went in to the store looking for something that would hydrate my skin, since we were fast approaching the winter months, and that would hopefully keep my redness calm and under control. (Let’s be honest, I’m looking for a miracle worker to reverse my rosacea and keep future wrinkles at bay, but I don’t see that happening any time soon)
I decided to purchase products from Juice Beauty, a company who has natural and organic products, because I thought they would be gentle on my skin and not cause flare-ups to my rosacea. I ended up purchasing the Brightening Essence and the Antioxidant Serum upon recommendation from a saleswoman. Keep on reading for my review of each product…
Honestly, when I saw this product I was just thinking… ‘what’s an essence?’ But I later found out that it’s a product that is made to help hydrate your skin, and help all of the other products you layer on afterwards be better absorbed or more effective. I heard hydrating and figured it would be a good option for me. Some other benefits other than hydration include, reducing the appearance of discoloration, soothing skin and redness, and preparing skin to absorb serums and moisturizers more effectively.
One thing I really liked about this product was the idea of reducing redness or discoloration, while still being safe for sensitive skin. A lot of products that work to brighten your appearance can be harsh and actually irritate my rosacea. I had no problems using this essence, and even if I haven’t noticed a significant decrease in redness, I haven’t had any rosacea flare ups.
Overall using this product was like using a classic toner. I apply this first to clean skin, and follow up with a serum, and then a moisturizer. There isn’t a harsh smell, it’s thin in consistency, and it applies smooth to skin which is nice.
Price: $35 for 4 fl oz.
I specifically was looking for a serum when I went to Ulta this day, so I was not surprised to have purchased this product. This serum is supposed to help reduce free radicals that can lead to skin damage, provide fatty acids to help smooth skin and reduce wrinkles, and hydrate and soothe skin.
I use the Antioxidant Serum after the essence, and a little bit goes a long way. It’s smooth and thin in consistency, but leaves almost a tacky residue when it dries – this is my only con to the product. When followed up with a moisturizing cream, the residue goes away.
Price: $48 for 2 fl oz.
Overall I really liked using both products. I have been using them for about three months now, and I still have a decent amount of product left in each bottle (a little bit really does go a long way). Some things I really liked include the packaging, how hydrating they were, that they are natural and free of harsh chemicals, and both were safe and effective on my sensitive skin.
I can’t really rave about them and say they reduced wrinkles, redness, and signs of aging because I’m using these products in a preventative way. Being in my mid 20’s I just want to make sure I’m taking care of my skin in the best way possible, and I think these products helped my current skin needs. I can at least attest to the fact that my skin is really hydrated, and I haven’t had any flaking, peeling, or rosacea flare-ups over the last three months… I’ll take that as a win!
I’d be curious to try more products from Juice Beauty in the future, who knows, maybe these will stay in my permanent line up. What are your holy grail skincare products? – I’d love to know!
Until next time,
Paige
